What should a service business keep updated on its Google Business Profile?
Keep five things current: your hours (including holidays), your service area, your services list, your photos and regular posts. Accuracy builds trust; activity shows you're open for business.
The short answer
Your Google Business Profile is often the first thing people see when they search for a service near them. It should answer three questions instantly: are you open, do you serve my area, and do you do what I need?
The five things to keep current
- Hours, including holidays. Example: a moving company adds extended Saturday hours for the end-of-month rush.
- Service area. List the areas you actually serve. Don't stretch it to towns you rarely visit.
- Services. Name them the way customers do: 'junk removal', not 'debris logistics'.
- Photos. Real photos of your team, vehicles and finished work beat stock images every time.
- Posts. Short updates about seasonal offers, new services or helpful tips.
Seasonal examples
A landscaper might post a spring clean-up reminder in March and a leaf removal update in October. A brand-new café might post its opening hours for launch week. Each post uses context you already have.
What a profile can't do
No profile update guarantees a ranking. What it does is make sure that when someone finds you, the information they see is accurate and inviting.
